Public Information Basics Course

To equip participants with the skills needed to be full or part-time Public Information Officers (PIOs), including oral and written communications; understanding and working with the media; and basic tools and techniques to perform effectively as a PIO, both in the proactive/ advocacy times and crisis/ emergency response. Recommended Participants: The primary audience for this training is individuals who have public information responsibilities as their main job or as an auxiliary function at the federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial level of government, and in the private and nongovernmental sectors.

Incident Command 300

The ICS-300 provides an in-depth focus on the NIMS Incident Command System (ICS) that includes the tools, practices, and procedures that are available in ICS to effectively manage emergency incidents or planned local events at a local Type 3 level. Expanding upon ICS-100 and -200, this course ensures that responders understand the basic ICS concepts that allow an incident management organization to expand and contract as needed to fit the incident and maintain its operational effectiveness.

Incident Command 400

This course expands upon the material covered in I-100 through G-300. G-400 focuses on large single agency and complex multi-agency/ multi-jurisdictional incident response. The course addresses area command and staff issues, as well as the planning, logistical, and fiscal considerations associated with complex incident management and interagency coordination.

Sport and Special Event Risk Management (AWR-167) Registration

The Sport and Special Event Risk Management course is designed to build sport and special event risk management capabilities for community-wide collaboration and mitigation. Through activity-based training modules, safety and security teams will increase their knowledge of planning, risk assessment, training, and continuous improvement practices. The expectation is for participants to return to their respective sport venues and coordinate the development or enhancement of a sport event security management system.

G-191: ICS/EOC Interface Registration

The course provides an opportunity for emergency management and response personnel to begin de-veloping an Incident Command System (ICS)/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) interface for their communities. The course reviews ICS and EOC characteristics, responsibilities and functions and depends heavily on activities and group discussions to formulate an interface.
