There are many ways that you can help you, your family, your neighborhood, and your community before, during and after an emergency or disaster. One of the biggest ways to help is to be prepared. Check out ways to have a kit and have a plan on our Prepare page.

The Fairfield County EMA hosts a community volunteer team called the "Community Emergency Response Team". Volunteers are trained on a variety of skills that would help both themselves and others during a time of emergency. Classes are offered during September each year to coincide with National Preparedness month.
